The state is filled with this sedimentary rock since Nevada was in a huge inland sea for a long period of time, millions of years ago. If you head to South Central Oregon, you can find geodes at Lakeview, the surrounding desert area, or you can go to Hart Mt. Your best chance to find geodes is in the vicinity of the abandoned mine located on the east slope of the South Black Rock Range.
